Listed here are the family members that have gone home to our family in the heavens. While it might be a seat left empty at our reunion, the memories of the person who once sat in that seat will continue on in the generations of family memebers who honor their memory in their stories, pictures, and actions. Like Margaret Mead said in her poem below...."For if you always think of me, I will never be gone."

Mr. Hugh Jeter, Jr., age 77, husband of Carmen Johnson Jeter, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Mr. Jeter was born in Union, January 18, 1945, the only child of Hugh Jeter, Sr. and Faye Hicks Jeter. He was a retired teacher after 33 years with the Union Co. School District having taught at Union Co. High School, Sims and Lockhart. He was a 1963 graduate of Union High School, received a bachelor’s degree from Newberry College and his master’s in education from Converse College. Mr. Jeter was active with the S.C. Educational Association both on the state and local levels. He was an avid golfer and a life-long collector of baseball cards.

Marry McShane Jeter, 75, of Columbia, died Sunday, March 27, 2022, after a brief hospitalization. Born November 14, 1946, in Winnsboro, SC, he was a son of the late William Gist and Lula Coleman Jeter.
Mr. Jeter was a US Army veteran who honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his active military service, Mr. Jeter served in the US Army Reserves and retired as a Master Sergeant after 25 years. He was employed as a letter carrier with the USPS for 37 years until his retirement in 2021. He was a former member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) and was an active member of both the Jeter and the Coleman-Feaster-Mobley Family Associations. Mr. Jeter enjoyed family genealogy, US history, Jeopardy, and being involved in family life. His greatest legacy will be as a husband, father, and grandfather (Pop).

Manning Thomas “Tom” Jeter III, age 75, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021. A visitation for family and friends of Tom will be held Friday, November 19, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM in Porter Chapel at First Baptist Church, 212 12th St, Columbus, Georgia 31901, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Tom will be laid to rest in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia.
Tom was born October 30, 1946 in Montgomery, Alabama; the son of Manning Thomas Jeter, Jr. and Mary Louise Loard Jeter. Tom graduated from Auburn University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and later a Master of Public Administration. At Auburn, Tom was a member of the ROTC and Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army as a Ranger achieving the rank of Captain. Tom was a Viet Nam Veteran. He was hired on January 19, 1976 by the US Secret Service. He rose through the ranks of the agency to become the Senior Resident Agent of the Savannah Resident office. Tom retired in 2001 and currently worked as an Independent Contractor doing background checks and security clearances for the US Secret Service and the US Department of State.

Guy Jeter Mt. Pleasant - Guy Wilburn Jeter, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., passed on January 19, 2021, after a 19-year battle with Parkinson's disease. Guy, the son of the late John McDow Jeter and Eunice Wilburn Jeter, was born in Union, SC on March 18, 1948.
He graduated from Union High School and then received his BA in English from Davidson College. Guy is survived by his wife and soul mate of 50 years, Deborah Williams Jeter of Mount Pleasant, and children who deeply loved him, Cecelia Jeter McPhail and her husband, Fred, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Guy Wilburn Jeter, Jr. of Okinawa, Japan. In addition, Guy leaves two granddaughters who adored their Papa, Grace and Miriam McPhail; his brother, John McDow Jeter, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Richmond, Virginia; and his sister, Susan Palmer Jeter, and her husband, Alan Adler, of Topanga, California. Guy was beloved as a brother by his in-laws and as Uncle Guy to his nieces and nephews.

Edward Atkinson Jr. Obituary

Ed Atkinson passed away at the age of 74, on September 18, with the comfort of family by his side.
Born in Columbia, SC on January 14, 1947, Ed was the son of the late Edward Wilkes Atkinson and Tommie Jeter Atkinson. In 1965, he graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, NC where he excelled in athletics. He was an outstanding quarterback and first baseman on the varsity teams. Ed went on to play football at Wake Forest University on a scholarship, initially playing quarterback on the freshman team but later moved to defensive back on the varsity team. He suffered a career ending knee injury and went on to finish his studies at Campbell University graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Throughout his life Ed loved sports, both playing and watching.
